Dr. Sonal Bathla is Laporoscopic & Vaginal Gynec Surgeon, working at Sant Parmanand Hospital, Delhi. She is the founder of “ Okti Foundation” , an NGO devoted to community outreach program for poor people in remote locations and provision of free surgical services. In the past decade, Dr. Bathla and her team have organized 55 camps and successfully conducted more than 5000 surgeries. The foundation’s two core programmes ‘ Surgical Ventures’ and ‘Cervical Cancer Screening’ are dedicated to the care of disadvantaged women patients. Her work is duly recognized at various national and international forums. The BMJ Awards South East Asia has applauded her initiative and her team achieved distinction under the “Best Surgical Team of the Year 2018” category for their service concerning people in hilly terrains and remote locations through capacity building of doctors and staff in local hospitals. She is also the recipient of the “ Compassion Extraordinaire “ award in 2018 from the FOGSI by India’s honorable Health Minister Sh. J. P. Nadda and FOGSI President Dr. Jaideep Malhotra. In 2017, she was honoured by the Rajasthan Ratnakar Society – Delhi for her contribution towards women’s empowerment and in 2019, she was awarded ‘Excellence in Health 2019’ award by Delhi Gynaecologist Forum and WoW India.
Dr. Bathla is the Founder Chairman of the Rural Committee of Indian Menopause Society at the national level. She has been lauded as a pioneer in introducing the concept of ‘ Mobilizing surgical skill to Villages “aimed to sensitize the urban professionals towards health care of rural masses.She has published several research papers in journals, contributed chapters in books and presented her research at national and international forums. She has also organized several conferences including Live Surgical Workshops in the fields of Urogynaecology, Menopause and High risk Pregnancy. She is currently the Vice President of the Society of Vaginal Surgeons – Delhi and Executive Member of NARCHI, Delhi Chapter.
